Biography

João Lobo plays drums in several bands including Norman, Tetterapadequ, Mulabanda, Going, Riccardo Luppi’s Mure Mure, Cornettada, The Unknown Rebel Band, Giovanni Guidi Trio, Carlos Bica “Matéria Prima”,  Scott Fields Freetet, Manuel Hermia Trio, Mâäk and Trance Mission, performs with the danish dance/music company WE GO and the Soundpainting collective Matters, and has recorded albums for Clean Feed, CAMjazz, NEOS, Igloo, El Negocito Records, among other labels.

 He has toured in Europe, USA, Brazil and Japan playing with many great musicians such as Norberto Lobo, Giovanni Di Domenico, Alexandra Grimal, Manolo Cabras,  Nélson Veras, Hugo Antunes, Maalem Hassan El Gadiri, Ghalia Benali, Lynn Cassiers, Nico Roig, Laurent Blondiau, Guillaume Orti, Joachim Badenhorst, Daysuke Takaoka, Tatsuhisa Yamamoto, Akira Sakata, Enrico Rava, Roswell Rudd, Thomas Morgan, Nate Wooley, Michael Attias, John Hebert, Marshall Allen, Chris Corsano and Evan Parker, among many others.

 João Lobo was born in Lisbon, took a Bachelor in Jazz-percussion at The Royal Conservatory of The Hague and lives currently in Brussels.
